The LG Hausys Surfaces annual Student Design Challenge is fashioned to encourage students to focus on emerging opportunities in solid surface methods of design – driving them to think beyond traditional approaches. Previous contest winners have utilized LG Surfaces to design models that are not only unique, but also capitalize on the flexibility, color offerings and fabrication elements of the LG Surfaces Solid Surface product line.
The winning designs of the 2010 Student Design Challenge will be innovations for the hospitality industry's key clients: travelers!
Traveling can be a tiring, frustrating and lonely experience. Because of this, today's business and leisure travelers crave a great hotel experience that reflects their individual style and offers them the services and amenities that help them feel in control and perform better while on the road.
For this design challenge, students must address these travel needs by developing a unique design concept that helps traveler be on top of their game, makes travel fresh and fun and promotes self-expression and interaction. The design should either contribute to Aloft's strong social environment, helping guests feel connected and engaged, or to the intimacy of Aloft's guest rooms that represent the most important interactions a guest has with a hotel's physical environment, whether it's providing the necessities of home or helping them stay organized. Consider key travel hot points such as technology, convenience, and comfort. Students are encouraged to push the boundaries of what defines the travel experience today and embrace reinvention and discovery. The winning design will be a successful example of something that is a true innovation for the hospitality industry and its key clients: travelers.
